Driving from Manchester to Burnley this afternoon and I caught sight of the windfarm at Cliviger. Some people think they spoil the landscape, but personally I like them. They have a simplicity and elegance in their sculptured design – a complete contrast to the bleak and textured moorland.

Sunday starts with a trip to Focus On Imaging at the NEC Birmingham. The place was packed with thousands of photographers molesting the latest kit, but it’s not for me – far too busy! So I drive back up the M6 to the coast at Crosby, just north of Liverpool. It’s the location of Anthony Gormley‘s ‘Another Place’. It’s late afternoon and serene, just a handful of people and several hundred gulls snuggled up against the cold sea breeze. If you haven’t been, it’s well worth a visit!

Despite the snow and ice, I drove over the North Yorkshire Moors to photograph the sunrise at dawn on Sunday morning. The gentle pastel colours reflect in the pools at Sandsend, just north of Whitby. Half an hour later, huge 15 foot waves crash over the rockbed and the suns rays cast a golden glow through the sea spray. Timeless.

In a week where the UK has been hit by snow, I have been designing a new website for Sea Events, a luxury boat charter service in Poole, Dorset. I still have a few tweaks to make to the designs and new photography will be done as soon as the first warm spring days arrive.

A couple of inches of snow has fallen across England and brought the usual panic to motorists with offices and schools closing. The best school days used to be the ones where you could have a snowball fight and then spend the day with wetsocks and rosy cheeks. Well the snow gives me an excuse to go for a quick walk with my camera before work. It’s a busy week ahead, with two websites to launch, so better get on!
