Finished a meeting early afternoon, and the opportunity to explore the Yorkshire Dales and more waterfalls. West Burton is a village near Aysgarth, and has good waterfalls. Which of these shots do you think is better? I can’t decide.

On a windy sunday afternoon, I made my way down to a small pond by the side of the River Wharfe, with no great expectations. However deep in thistles and weeds I found a couple of large dragonfly to photograph. This is a Teneral male Broad-bodied Chaser Dragonfly, and was about 4 inches in size. Fossils have been found that show dragonfly once grew to a metre in size – I would take up running if they were still around.

Thursday morning and a couple of hours photographing Aysgarth Falls again. Kevin Costner fought Little John here in the film Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. Now that summer is approaching, the mosses are greener and you can see the riverbed.

It’s been a week of early starts – 4.45am on monday morning – but usually 6.30am. Today I squeeze in an early walk and a few photographs. It’s the time of day when you catch the hares, lapwing, curlews and the fox with her two new cubs. Better get on, as I have several jobs are going to print today.

Nothing better than spending a few minutes walking in the countryside when you have been stuck behind a desk all day. Not a particularly good night for photography as the sun was behind clouds making the light flat.

Having a website means I sometimes get calls from people outside the Yorkshire/Lancashire region. June Wentland is an author and lives in Bristol. She needed a cover design for her first children’s book Nana (Computer Genius) and the Amazing Roberta. The book is aimed at children 5 to 7 years old and has illustrations by Simon Goodway.

I had an enjoyable monday evening photographing the dress rehearsal of Crazy For You at the City Varieties in Leeds. The pictures can be seen on the Potato Room Players website. It’s a great musical and tickets are still available.

It’s been a long day (having started work at 5.30am) but spring is here and it’s warm. A walk in the local woods as the sun begins to set and a chance to take a few more photos. I found out today that some of my Shakespeare photos are going to be published in a book about William Shakespeare for Canadian children this summer. Cool.

3.15am and off to the coast for a spot of photography. I have been itching to return to Spurn Head on the Yorkshire coast for weeks. Just before I arrive a group of brown deer run across the road and head through a field of yellow rape-seed…stunning! I arrive at 5.15am but its already light, sadly. Two hours of walking up and down the beach and then I set off back…exhausted and in need of sleep. I am hoping for a weekend on the Northumberland coast soon to photograph Lindisfarne, Bamburgh Castle, St Mary’s Lighthouse…
