Last week I photographed the boats at Morecambe in the dusk. This week I wanted to catch the light before the sunset. Having spent an hour shooting the fishing boats, I drove further down the Lancashire coast to photograph the setting sun at Heysham (top pic). The sea was calm and although I prefer crashing waves and lots of seaspray, I think I captured the tranquility of the moment.

I walked early on saturday morning and finished up in local woods and suddenly 2 large deer and 2 young raced across the woodland path, no more than 10 feet away. By the time I had raised my camera they were gone. And so I set out earlier on sunday after a really frosty night. Of course the odds on seeing the deer again were not good. But then this little chap pops out from under tree roots and poses in the sunshine for several photos. I use my wildlife photographs on The Countryman website, one of the sites that I have designed and update monthly. Guys got cute feet!

Having visited a client on the Lancashire coast this afternoon, I just had an hour to take photographs of the sands at Morecambe as the sunset. The variety of textures and the range of browns was fascinating. If I hadn’t forgotten my tripod I would have photographed long after dark.

A sprinkling of snow on my day off, and I grab camera and tripod and venture out to the Yorkshire Dales. There is less snow than expected so my attention is caught by a gentle stream at Ingleton. Half an hour later, I am trying to capture the power of the falls at Aysgarth (below).
