5.30am: Wake, shower, breakfast. Check emails and websites. 6.30am: Set off on 450 mile round trip. 7am: Collect 5,000 programmes from printers and drive to Windsor to photograph the dress rehearsal of Henry V. 11am: Help unload BSC van of costumes and sound & lighting equipment. 2pm: Start taking photographs of rehearsals (no costumes – see above). 6pm: First food since breakfast – one burger. 7.30pm – 10.15pm: Photograph dress rehearsal (see photos). 10.30pm: Drive to London and collect a laser printer and sign. Midnight: Drive back up the M1, which has lanes closed all the way up for repairs. Sing to anything on the radio, just to stay awake. 4.30am: Bed. Tired but pleased.

The more I go for walks in the countryside, the more I realise that the slower you take it, and the more your stop and look, the more you will see. (4 mores in one sentence – that can’t be good). Sometimes the landscape is just too big, to make a great photograph. Sometimes beauty is in the detail. Design is the same. It’s taking time to care about small details.
