I saw this squirrel happily eating a nut on one of my country walks this week. I seem to be taking a lot of wildlife and landscape photographs these days, but there is a purpose. I have redesigned Countryman magazine’s website and Dalesman magazine’s website. I have used my photos and created page banners for the top of each page.

I have used Freehand for about 16 years now and Adobe have just announced it is to be discontinued. So the choice is switch to Illustrator or InDesign – both Adobe products. You can buy Illustrator in the USA for $599 but in the UK it’s £569.88 (prices from Adobe site) – that’s double the US price, given the price of the pound at the moment. InDesign is £715.58 or $699 – more than twice the price!
Quark is the only other real choice. I have worked in Quark and Illustrator before but have always preferred Freehand. I will probably carry on for another couple of years with Freehand. Question is which one is best for design layouts and packaging?

I enjoyed photographing Buddy the Musical last night at the City Varieties. I was surprised how hard it was to get the exposures right, even though there was plenty of stage lighting. Anyhow the pics are on the Potato Room Players site. Off to London now for software training, so no posts for a couple of days. And “break-a-leg” to anyone from the PRP!
