Friday in Derby was interesting. I didn’t get my photos of Wayne Sleep, but did manage to take shots throughout the afternoon rehearsal. Picture: Robert J Williamson and Mina Anwar (from Ben Elton’s The Thin Blue Line for BBC). One of the things I really like about the open air Shakespeare tour is how each venue is so very different. It gives the show quite a different feel. I will be in Edinburgh next week to photograph the actors on stage at night, with the castle illuminated in the background.

Digital photography has completely relit my passions for photography. Gone are the days of darkroom processing and grainy film. The picture above was taken with my Canon 350D and a 55-200mm lens – great for portraits. But what strikes me most, is how easy it is to use. Technology has made it easy to take great pictures but it is the ability to have original ideas that will seperate the great from the pack. (I know I am in the pack).

Last weekend I photographed the opening night of the British Shakespeare Company’s tour in Rochester, Kent. The location was stunning and the cast superb. Some of my photos were screened on GMTV this morning when Sean Brosnan (son of Pierce Brosnan) made his first professional TV interview. On friday I will be photographing Wayne Sleep for his role of Puck.
